Reiki (pronounced Ray-key) is a Japanese word meaning Universal Life Energy, an energy which is present all around us.

The name ‘Reiki’ was given to this system of natural healing which evolved in Japan under the guidance of Dr Mikao Usui (d. 1926).  Usui developed the system after many years of study of ancient teachings, mediation and research. He spent the remainder of his life practising and teaching Reiki, thus starting a tradition that continues to this day where the teachings are passed down from Master to student.

Reiki does not attach itself to any religion or belief system so there are no restrictions as to who can practise or benefit form it.

Reiki Treatment

The Reiki treatment is a simple process where patient lies on a couch or bench. It is also possible for the treatment to be done in a sitting position; what is important is that the patient is relaxed and comfortable. It is not necessary to remove clothing as there is no massage or manipulation; the Reiki Practitioner places their hands on the body in a sequence of non-intrusive movements to treat the whole body rather than any specific symptoms. This is a common practice amongst most complementary or alternative therapies. Treatments usually last for an hour to an hour and a half.

When can Reiki help?

Healing is possible at many levels whether physical, mental, emotional or spiritual. Acute injuries can be helped to heal quickly but more chronic illness takes longer.

All rooms can be rented by the hour and unlike other therapy centres in London, we do not commit you to regular block bookings or long term commitments.

Since opening our doors in 2007, The Summit now hosts over 40 practitioners with an average of three joining us every month. No other therapy rooms in North London offers such a wide variety of disciplines and The Summit will, we are sure, prove to be the ideal location for your own practice.
