Alex Owen: Traditional Chinese Medicine, Acupuncture, Chinese Herbal Medicine
Acupressure is a treatment that involves applying fingertip or hand pressure to various points on the body to affect the flow of energy (Qi, Chi or Ki) by unblocking congested energy centres in the body.
Acupressure is believed to be a precursor to Acupuncture as it predates the use of needles to stimulate the flow of Qi. The same principles involved in acupuncture are applied in acupressure, but instead of using needles, pressure is applied directly to 'acupoints' on the body, usually using the hands or fingers.
